Travel Bursary Program Dates:

  • November 1-3, 2024

Bursary Includes:
  • Airfare from the closest major BC airport to Vancouver
  • Stipend to help cover personal expenses during travel and stay in Vancouver
  • Shared hotel accommodation on Friday and Saturday night
  • Attendance at the Explore Public Policy Issues seminar on Saturday
  • Saturday morning breakfast, breaks, and lunch, and post-seminar networking reception with speakers and Fraser Institute staff

Please note the bursary does not include roundtrip transportation to your local airport, meals on Friday and Sunday, or any other supplementary expenses not listed above. The modest stipend is designed to contribute to these expenses.


Eligibility:

  • You must be a student between the ages of 19 and 30 on the date of the seminar and currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution.
  • You must reside in British Columbia but outside of the Lower Mainland.

Please note: Travel Bursary applicants should not complete the separate Vancouver Explore Public Policy Issues registration form, as successful bursary applicants will automatically be registered for the seminar.


Successful applicants will be notified on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to submit your application early. Applications for the fall semester are due September 30, 2024, after which applicants to the spring 2025 program will be accepted on a rolling basis should space be available.


Program Guidelines

  • The Travel Bursary program is open to students between the ages of 19 - 30 who are currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution, who reside in British Columbia, outside of the Lower Mainland.
  • Application deadline is Monday, September 30, 2024 (11:59pm PT)
  • All applicants that apply for travel bursaries will be notified by October 11, 2024
  • Student participants must commit to attend all aspects of the student seminar and travel program, including meals.
  • Student participants must write a brief summary about their experience following the event.
  • Failure to fulfill any of the program requirements will result in disqualification from the program, and invoicing for the cost of the Travel Bursary.
  • The approximate value of this Travel Bursary is $1,500.
